During the high school years, students in the Vocational Program maximize
their academic development and transition to vocational development, which
is tailored to each student in its speed and direction. In the Freshman
year, most students attend the St. Anthony workshop, where basic job skills
are developed. Work environment behavior is accentuated with the opportunity
for rehearsal.
In the Sophomore through Senior years, students travel to work sites at
private and public industry and businesses. Experienced job coaches
transport the students and provide on-site support at the level needed for
each student. As each student's ability increases, their work is modified to
appropriately challenge them. Additionally, functional academics, motor
skills, community based instruction for safety and survival skills, and
activities of daily living are all taught to compliment student's individual
vocational development.
